Hello, Bill and Dave with Air Duct Cleaning of Chandler. Today we are talking about air filters in your home. People ask us all the time “What is the best Air Filter to use in my home for my Air Conditioning system?”
We’re going to show you a demonstration on that. We have three of the most common Air Filters here. First we have a typical furnace filter, these are very common. It has very high flow. Next we have this very popular filter that you can find at any local hardware store. This one is pleated, but it is very restrictive. This stops the air flow and can damage your AC Unit. Now this one here is the one we recommend. This is an Electronic Filter that has a pad inside of it that we change. Think of this as the high flow filter that we showed you first, but with a Magnetic charge.
To show you how these filters work, we took some flour from Bill’s house. when we dump the flour on the first filter, it just goes right through. That is the high flow, so obviously its not trapping a lot of dirt. Great air flow, but it just doesn’t grab any dirt. Now when we pour flour on the electronic filter, which we don’t even have charged you can see that it doesn’t let any flour through. So basically when we put a charge on this, which is just a little plug in like your cell phone, 24 volts, it then has a magnetic charge which stops up to 97% of dirt. So when it comes to the best filter for your ac unit and your indoor air quality, we recommend on that has a combination of stopping power and high flow.
